Busch Gardens Williamsburg has officially announced a name for the new in 2018 virtual reality experience. The name is “Battle for Eire” and will feature a fierce fairy warrior named Addie, who will lead riders on an adventure through her homeland of Ireland. Along for the adventure a host of characters will join Addie, some heroic and some villainous. Addie’s goal is to rescue the Heart of Eire, which represents the magic of Ireland.

Battle for Eire will be located in the Ireland village of the park. The ride is a marriage of a motion based theater simulator with state of the art 360 degree virtual reality headsets. “We are taking guests on an incredible journey,” said Larry Giles, Vice President of Engineering at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. “The movement of the simulator combined with interactive special effects from the VR headsets will deliver an exciting, high-energy experience, with a great storyline.”  Battle for Eire will debut in 2018 following the 2017 debut of Invadr, the park’s first wooden coaster. Busch Gardens Williamsburg continues its commitment to providing innovative experiences for all ages.

The opening of this attraction will kick off another exciting season at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, which has been named the “World’s Most Beautiful Theme Park” by the National Amusement Park Historical Association for 27 consecutive years. From its thrilling roller coasters, world-class dining options and kid-friendly attractions, Busch Gardens offers fun for the whole family.

“Battle For Eire will be the type of experience that only Busch Gardens can deliver,” said David Cromwell, Park President at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. “The combination of innovative VR headsets with our flight simulator will create an immersive, exciting environment for guests of all ages.”
