Busch Gardens Williamsburg announced on March 19, 2016 during Season Pass Member preview day that a new for 2017 wooden coaster is coming. The park invited fans to pick out the name and logo for the new coaster. Invadr is a new coaster being manufactured and constructed by Great Coasters International of Sunbury, PA. The new attraction will reach a height of 60 feet and plummet riders down a 74 foot drop. Riders will reach a top speed of 50 mph at the bottom of the first drop. 9 airtime hills will follow after along with many twists and turns before arriving back into the station. Invadr will debut as the first crowd sourced rollercoaster ever. The 2017 season will begin very soon and we had an opportunity to check out the progress on Invadr and interview key personnel that are a part of this new attraction.

What is the current progress on Invadr? The ride is still on schedule to open in April. Crews have currently constructed a good amount of track and are close to completing the track circuit. Once that is completed, all of the electrical work will be completed before testing begins. Invadr will use the former Gwazi trains from the sister park in Tampa. The trains have been refurbished and rebuilt to debut with the theme of the ride. The all steel structure is a concept that was used at Fun Spot in Orlando for their White Lightning roller coaster. The park is going with this concept to cut down on overall ride maintenance and provide for a smoother wood coaster experience. The track is all wood supported by the steel structure.
