It is that time of the year when many park guests are eagerly awaiting the beginning of the 2016 season. There is a lot of excitement going on in the Charlotte area this year as the NFL Carolina Panthers are in the Super Bowl. The Panthers are coming off one of their best years in franchise history as they nearly completed an undefeated season. Carowinds is located in the Charlotte, NC area and the Panthers are their hometown team.
The park made the decision to deck many rides and attractions in blue this weekend in support of the Panthers Super Bowl appearance on Sunday. The many rides included Fury 325, Afterburn, X-treme Skyflyer, SkyTower, and many of the other classic coasters. The park looked forward to showcasing their support for the Panthers on all different levels in an effort to bring life to the city while the team was away in San Francisco. The SkyTower turned into the look of the Panthers this past Friday evening as it looked forward to the matchup on Sunday with the Denver Broncos.
The park also put together a video on YouTube that showed cheer for the team and what brings the Carolinas together? The answer to that question is: Carowinds, where the Carolinas come together! Fury 325, the world’s tallest and fastest giga coaster, was decked out in blue to support the Panthers. The coaster is looking forward to thrilling guests for a 2nd season on March 25, 2016. As for the upcoming game on Sunday, the park has some final words for the team: Go Panthers! #KeepPounding. You can watch the Panthers take on the Broncos in Super Bowl 50 at 6:30pm on CBS Sunday Feb 7.
