Announcement season is in full swing at many theme parks around the country. It is the time of year everyone anticipates as the summer comes to a close and students head back to school. The parks begin with teasing on social media and through many other sources as to what will debut the following season. Many parks recently announced their 2017 attractions this past week and are looking forward to growing their individual park and the company.
Knott’s Berry Farm has announced a Soak City expansion for 2017. Shore Break will tower over seven stories and offer six thrilling slide experiences. Four of the slides on the 60-foot tall tower will begin with guests climbing into an aqua-launch chamber. The floor will drop beneath them sending them through a series of flat loops and s-curves. Shore break will also feature dueling tube slides tube slides dropping riders through many twists and turns.The Wedge slide tower will replace the current Pacific Spin and will be an open air family raft ride. Six guests at a time will travel down many twists and turns and surprise drops. Knott’s Berry Farm is also adding some upgraded amenities in 2017 along with the expansion. Worlds of Fun will debut three new attractions in 2017. Mustang Runner will take guests aboard three arms with seven gondolas per arm and will turn one way while the base of the ride spins the other way. Falcon’s Flight will take riders 100 feet up into the air and while spinning and rising at the same time with 50 riders aboard. Winterfest will debut in 2017 at the park. Valleyfair announced that North Star will be added in 2017. This new star flyer type attraction will be themed to the region’s affinity to being “up north”and the great outdoors. The new attraction will lift riders 230 feet into the air spinning riders above the ground. North Star will rise as the second tallest attraction at the park next to Power Tower. The attraction will reach speeds of 40 mph while seating two passengers per swing across. North Star will debut as the only ride of its type in the upper Midwest. California’s Great America has announced that the park’s current stand up roller coaster “Vortex” will be converted to a floorless coaster in 2017. The new attraction will debut as “Patriot” and will celebrate America as it is nestled adjacent to All American Corners section of the park. Vortex will continue to operate as a stand up coaster until September 5. Patriot will take riders 91 feet into the air before dropping them into a 360 degree loop with an additional corkscrew to follow after completing many twists and turns.
