Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari is coming off one of their best seasons in 2015 with the debut of “Thunderbird”, the nation’s first launched wing coaster. The new ride opened to many positive reviews including from myself as one of the best rides around to experience. The park is currently gearing up for another successful season in 2016 as officials have announced some work being done to some of the current attractions.
The park has announced via their YouTube page that “The Legend” will be reborn. The ride has been thrilling park guests since May 6, 2000, and will continue to deliver those thrills in a new fashion. Great Coasters International will be performing the transformation work to the sections of the ride to make it more enjoyable for park guests.
Work has already started on The Legend and will be ready for park guests in 2016. Crews will install a new double-down element as the train exits the helix. “It will create a beautiful airtime moment as the train races under the lift hill back towards the station” says James Olliver – VP of Development and Maintenance.
Crews will install a new accelerated turn heading towards Frightful Falls. “Following this accelerated turn, the train will enter a new tunnel underneath Frightful Falls” says James Olliver – VP of Development and Maintenance. The 2016 season looks to be an another amazing year for Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari following the successful 2015 season. If you are planning a visit to the park in 2016, you will not want to miss The Legend being reborn.
