It is the most wonderful time of the year before the holidays begin. The annual International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) expo is officially underway in Orlando, FL. For those who are new to the understanding of this event will be excited of the results to this three day event. The IAAPA Expo gives operators of Amusement Park or Attractions based companies the opportunity to look at new concepts and options available to grow their individual brand or company. There are a lot of different things to look for from the nearest arcade machine to an actual ride.

Some of the highlights from this year’s event include the unveiling of SeaWorld San Antonio Wave Breaker ride vehicles. The new Wave Breaker: Rescue Coaster will be the first of its kind when it opens at SeaWorld San Antonio in 2017. Some of the other highlights include: Invadr at Busch Gardens Williamsburg unveiling two different unique roller coaster front car vehicles for their new in 2017 attraction. A lot of other news revealed on day 1 of the event include many virtual reality experiences from many companies. Social media is a major part of IAAPA each year as many news organizations share content from the show floor.

Another unveil on the show floor this year is the ride vehicle for Dutch Wonderland’s Merlin Mayhem roller coaster. This new family style coaster from S&S Worldwide will feature vehicles equipped with onboard audio and will seat 20 passengers per train. Riders will be suspended side-by-side while rising 60 feet into the air to conquer many twists and turns. “The Dutch Wonderland team is very excited to bring Merlin’s Mayhem to A Kingdom for Kids! The addition of this coaster reinforces our commitment to the families that visit the park. We are honored to partner with S&S Worldwide to make it a reality.” says Dutch Wonderland General Manager Rick Stammel.

Some additional highlights from this year’s expo and award recipients include:

IAAPA Hall of Fame award: Roland Mack of Europa Park & Mack Rides, and Tim O’Brien an industry journalist.
