Kings Dominion is getting ready to amaze guests with the biggest Independence Day celebration in the mid-atlantic. The park will be showcasing the first annual “Star-Spangled Celebration”. Star Spangled Celebration will bring park guests together as we celebrate our independence. There will be performances from local military bands during the day and dazzling firework shows each evening. The event will run from July 2-4.

  • Saturday July 2:
  • – 10:00am: National Anthem performed by U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band (TRADOC Band)
  • – 10:15am, 12:05pm, 1:00pm: U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band (TRADOC Band) on International Street
  • – 10:00am-5:00pm: USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia
  • – 10:30am-5:00pm: Military Chef BBQ Challenge under the Eiffel Tower

The Military Chef’s BBQ Challenge will take place on Saturday, July 2 under the Eiffel Tower. Guests can watch their favorite military teams fight for the championship in this annual event. The challenge is an official qualifier for the World Food Championships held later this year. As the holiday draws closer, many park guests will be making their way out to the park this weekend. On July 4, the park will be hosting the 380th Army Band performing the National Anthem at 10:00am. There will be performances on International Street at 10:05am, 12:05pm, 1:00pm.

Kings Dominion is honoring all service members this weekend. All active and retired military as well as veterans with honorable or medical discharge are invited to experience the park with free admission. A DD214 or government issued ID will be accepted.
