Kings Dominion has officially kicked off the 1st annual Taste of Virginia event. The event had a successful first weekend of operation and will continue for the next two weekends before coming to a close. Park guests are diving into the many options available on the food menu from all regions of Virginia. For those 21 and older there are alcoholic beverage selections to choose from. The event takes place in the Candy Apple Grove section of the park.
Taste of Virginia had a very successful opening weekend. The park is showcasing many foods from the many regions to include: Chesapeake Bay Crab Cakes and Tidewater Seared Oysters. Some other favorites include: Brunswick Stew from the Blue Ridge Mountains, Fried Winesap Apple Pies from the Piedmont Region, Smithfield Ham and Cheese Empanadas from the Colonial Region. You can view the full menu here: Taste of Virginia Full Menu. In addition to all the tasty food that will be served, the event will also host a wide variety of beverages as well. Guests 21 and older will be able to enjoy spirits from local distilleries, a glass of wine from a local winery, or a beer from a local brewery. You can also catch award winning chef Damaris Phillips on Sat. May 13 at 1pm and 4pm. She will be giving a cooking demonstration for park guests to enjoy. Tim Smith, one of the stars on the tv show “Moonshiners” will be at the park for a meet and greet from 1pm-5pm on May 13. There will also be live music each day of the event from 12pm-2pm and 4pm-6pm.
Taste of Virginia is included with park admission but requires tokens to sample the foods and beverages. Tokens cost as low as $4.00 for a pack of 3 tokens. Food samplings run between 2-4 tokens and alcohol samplings are 4 tokens. You can purchase a combo pack which includes park admission and 9 tokens for $56.40 plus tax.
Taste of Virginia runs each Saturday and Sunday through May 21st.
