Six Flags is continuing to build on the success of virtual reality technology for many of their signature attractions. The VR experience was applied to many rides this past summer from Superman: The Ride at Six Flags New England, Superman: Ride Of Steel at Six Flags America, Superman: Krypton Coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Ninja at Six Flags St. Louis, Dare Devil Dive at Six Flags Over Georgia, The New Revolution coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain, Shockwave at Six Flags Over Texas. All of these coasters received unique storylines throughout the experience and I had an opportunity to take a spin on both Superman VR rides at Six Flags New England and Six Flags America.
Which parks are receiving the new Rage of the Gargoyles in VR? Six Flags will debut this new attraction at the following parks: Six Flags Discovery Kingdom – Kong, Six Flags Over Texas – Shockwave, Six Flags St. Louis – Ninja, Six Flags Great America – The Demon, Six Flags Over Georgia – Dare Devil Dive, Six Flags Great Adventure – Skull Mountain, The Great Escape – Steamin’ Demon, La Ronde – Goliath. What is the ride experience like? Riders will strap into the cockpit of an Apache-style helicopter and fly out into a devastated city to take on the gargoyles. Riders will be able to shoot at the gargoyles depending on head position and once targeted they will be fired upon. Riders will work their way throughout the ride to battle the vicious master gargoyle.
“The guest response to the virtual reality coasters at our parks has been outstanding, further solidifying Six Flags as the world leader in innovative rides and attractions,” said Six Flags President and CEO John Duffey. “One of the most exciting things about this technology is that we have the ability to change the storylines to offer our guests new thrills and new reasons to visit our parks. Just like the Superman and New Revolution VR Coasters currently operating in nine of our parks, Rage of the Gargoyles will be another first for our guests.”
